Rules of the game in UNO

UNO is an extremely popular American card game that requires the use of a special deck of cards. Although it was created in 1971 by Merle Robbins, who sold the copyrights to International Games, it began to be especially popular in the nineties. It was then that the rights to it were acquired by the famous company Mattel, which is the largest toy manufacturing company in the world.

Since 1997, technology has evolved significantly, so now you can enjoy UNO not only in the traditional version, but also play on your smartphone or even console. Go one step further: play the game of the card game with the computer: the only requirement is access to the Internet. Test your strength in this exciting puzzle game, face other players and see if fate will be in your favor!

What are the basic rules of the UNO game?

The standard deck for playing UNO consists of 108 cards, among which you can distinguish between regular and functional cards. The first discussed type consists of four sets of 19 (numbered from 0 to 9) or 17 (numbered from 0 to 8) cards in the following colors: red, green, blue and yellow. The second type, in turn, consists of 8 stop cards, 8 change of direction cards, and 8 +2 cards (so-called take two), two of each color. In addition, the set also includes 4 black cards +4 (so-called take four) with a color change and 4 standard black cards.

The rules are extremely simple, thanks to which the UNO game will appeal to every player, regardless of age or skill level. Keep in mind that apart from the original version, there is a lot of variation in the game with the same or modified for a given variant of the deck ... Let yourself be creative! The number of players usually varies from 2 to 10. First of all, remember that any actions can only be taken during your turn!

Depending on the number of people participating in the game, at the beginning of the game deal 7 cards for each, and one additional card is drawn directly from the deck and put in the middle. The person to the left of you should start the game. The main goal of the players is to match their card by color, symbol or number to the face-up card in the center. If you do not have it, nothing is lost - you can take another one from the deck and then put it in place in the same turn, as long as it fits this time, of course. You can also choose not to add any element and let the game continue.

What else is worth knowing while playing UNO?

The aforementioned function cards with special properties, the use of which may turn out to be crucial for winning the game, are also of great importance in the UNO game. Applying a stopped item, known as a "stop", will cause the next player to miss their turn. On the other hand, the card marked with a change of direction guarantees that the order of the game will be reversed. So if so far the game has been played clockwise, then after applying the above-mentioned solution, it will go counter-clockwise.

It is also worth mentioning the cards that make it difficult for your teammates to win. A box marked with "+2" will guarantee that the next person in line will have to draw two cards, unless the first one is the next +2. In this case, the turn is passed on with the increased number of cards to be drawn. Similarly for black cards marked with +4. The person who draws it may declare a color change to any color, and the next player must draw as many as four cards. Classic black cards, on the other hand, give you a choice of colors, so you can place them on any card.

If you only have one card left in your hand, be sure to shout UNO (which in Spanish means one). It's very important not to miss this moment - if your teammates see an oversight, the rules are clear: you need to draw two more cards, which can make a difference in your victory. The first to lay down all their cards wins. So you'll need a bit of luck, a bit of reflex and a whole lot of perceptiveness, and before you know it, it's going to be a whole afternoon!
